Using Collaborative Ideation with Carlsberg
In late August we conducted a leadership workshop with Carlsberg’s Research & Development departments.
Approximately sixty team leaders and managers from Carlsberg R&D across the world participated in the workshop. The goal was to establish a common understanding of the future R&D strategy within all teams and departments. As a part of the collaborative work, we planned and facilitated dynamic and challenging ideation sessions as a way to come up with new, profitable R&D opportunities. The final task was to determine ways of sharing and implementing the common R&D strategies and determine actions for future collaboration across the countries.

Framework Identity conducted the workshop in collaboration with strandgaad & co. When preparing a workshop like this, we emphasize that participants – who have gone through the trouble of traveling to Copenhagen and taken two days out of the calendar – get the maximum value out of the seminar. For many of them, it was the first time they met their colleagues from other countries. Therefor it was important to include sessions that didn’t only focus on a professional output but on building relations as well. Through dialogue with the R&D management team we designed a dense and dynamic program to meet the need of creating content and solutions while at the same time allow space for social interaction on a more informal level.

When preparing a workshop for 60 people, it is very important to keep in mind that the dynamics of a group of that size are completely different from a group of 10 people or less. We see it as our responsibility to carefully prepare inspirational material, detailed guidelines and a clear structure for the team work. Mastering the time frame for the activities throughout the two days is also a part of the experience and competence we bring into the project.
